Paragon ID's Tap and Pay solution has been chosen by French public transport operator Keolis for its Menton and French Riviera bus networks

Paragon ID is pleased to announce that its Tap and Pay solution has been chosen by French public transport operator Keolis to be rolled out across the French Riviera and Menton bus networks.

Since August 2021, the system has been tested on line 1 of the Zest network operated by Keolis. It is now possible for the 70,000 residents in the area to pay for travel with their contactless bank card. The system will be tested for six months and extended to all buses within the network at the beginning of 2022. Line 1 will be a representative test, as it accounts for 40% of all journeys taken.

Keolis Menton Riviera has chosen Paragon ID's Tap and Pay solution as it has been specifically developed for use on public transport.

Thanks to the P One validator developed by Paragon ID, passengers are able to pay for their tickets on the bus quickly and conveniently. The on-board Operations Support System (OSS) allows the user’s bank card to be validated to enable them to travel across all the lines during their trip.

This complements the mobile and internet sales channels of Paragon ID and airweb's Open ABT ticketing solution.

The ability to interact between the ticketing system and the OSS is now an essential element in public transport management. The real-time data of the use of the Zest network lines will offer valuable insight into the customer journey.

Christophe Peix, Sales Director of the Transport & Smart Cities division at Paragon ID, says:

"Our Tap and Pay solution is a direct response to the current health crisis. It facilitates access to the network for occasional travellers. This integration with our partner Worldline Ingenico allows us to quickly implement a new sales channel without disrupting existing processes, while offering detailed travel statistics. We are very proud to see our Tap and Pay solution on the buses operated by Keolis and we are looking forward to hearing about the return on investment.”

Sylvain Jacquemot, Marketing and Sales Manager of Keolis Menton Riviera, comments:

"The deployment of contactless payment is part of the dynamic modernisation of the Zest network initiated by the Communauté d'Agglomération de la Riviera Française as part of our public service delegation. It represents a big step towards innovation and the digitalisation of our services.”

Frédéric Gilli, Director of Keolis Menton Riviera, adds:

"This solution, which complements physical sales and is 100% digital, allows occasional customers to purchase tickets, particularly in tourist areas. With the success of the online shop and the Zest ticket application already deployed by Paragon ID, we have every confidence in the success of this trial.”
