Keolis Bordeaux Métropole chooses Paragon ID for the implementation of a credit card payment system in the buses of the city of Bordeaux

Paragon ID is pleased to announce the introduction of payment by credit card on the buses of Bordeaux. Since 22 March the system is being tested with a few drivers. It is therefore now possible to pay for transport tickets by contactless bank card on certain vehicles on lines 1 and 9. The system will be tested for a month after which a decision will be made whether it is extended to all buses of these two lines.

Keolis Bordeaux Métropole has chosen Paragon ID's solution - Open Tap & Protect - which has been specifically developed for public transport. The system is adapted to the network's sales and revenue payment procedures. It complements the mobile and internet sales channels of Paragon ID's Open ABT ticketing solution, co-developed with its subsidiary airweb.

Keolis Bordeaux Métropole commented: "This experiment is carried out exclusively on board of lines 1 and 9 of the TBM network. Four drivers have been trained to test this new service for a month. Only vehicles with a sign at the entrance stating "pay your tickets by bank card" offer this option. As a reminder, it is possible to buy tickets for 1 or 2 trips on board.

At the end of this trial period, and based on the feedback received from drivers and customers, payment by bank card on the buses of lines 1 and 9 may be extended and be made permanent for all buses on these two lines, which have been selected on the basis of their service to Saint-Jean station and Mérignac airport and the large number of occasional travelers transported. Christophe Peix, Sales Director Smart Cities at Paragon ID adds: “Building on our expertise in the public transport ticketing market, our Tap & Protect solution was developed in the midst of the health crisis, when our customers needed to quickly set up a contactless ticketing system. The integration required coordination with our partner Worldline Ingenico and five other suppliers.

We are very proud to see our installation on the buses of Transports Bordeaux Métropole and we look forward to hearing about their experience. "
